2022 WNFC REGULAR SEASON TIPS OFF APRIL 2 WITH OPENING WEEKEND HIGHLIGHTED BY MATCHUPS THAT FANS HAVE BEEN WAITING TO SEE

The WNFC 2022 Schedule Features 6 Games Per Team

DALLAS, Dec. 29, 2021 – The WNFC today released its game schedule for the 2022 regular season, which will feature 6 games per team. The historic regular season will kick-off on Saturday, April 2 with a weekend of action showcasing 16 teams. The league’s 3rd regular season will conclude on Saturday, May 21, followed by the WNFC Playoffs (tournament format), and IX Cup Championship weekend hosted in Frisco, TX at the state-of-the-art Ford Center (Frisco Star).

The WNFC recently unveiled its complete television and streaming schedule will be hosted via Vyre Network (multi-year agreement). The league will make history by televising all 51 regular season games live, and post-production through the networks globally streaming and Smart-TV platforms.

“Coming off of our most highly attended and engaged season ever, we are excited to present the most competitive professional product that women's tackle football has to offer. The world will be watching the growth and development of American football, and we plan to continue to give our fans, sponsors, and teams the absolute best experience in women's sports. We won't stop until the WNFC is a household name.” said WNFC Commissioner Janice Masters.

The 2022 season will begin on Saturday, April 2 with eight action-packed matchups. The 2X defending champion Texas Elite Spartans will take to the road to challenge the explosive Kansas City Glory. In a rematch of personal rivals, and maybe a preview of the 2022 playoff semifinals, the red hot Alabama Fire and its trio of 2021 All-Pros – WNFC league-leading rusher/2021 Offensive Player of The Year Kelli Smith, top receiver Rashida Young, and disruptive edge defender Waynicia Thomas – will host the rebuilt Atlanta Phoenix, who were led in 2021 by their own dynamic group of All-Pros in Shatonya Spicer, Kiyana Jones, and the return of future hall of famer, Carla "Smiley" Odom.

The opening-night schedule will also feature the Mississippi Panthers, led by one of the league's most explosive young superstars, and 2021 Game Changer Award Winner, dual-threat quarterback Regena Jackson. The Panthers will visit the Houston Heat, who boast two of the league’s most All-Pro talents, Kesha Smith (WR) and Teryni Dash (DE). In addition, the Washington Prodigy, paced in 2021 by All-Pro Kourtney Purham (C) and dominating defensive end Natasha Ware, will face the Florida Avengers who are set to challenge the Atlantic Conference for one of the four coveted playoff tournament spots.

Action will continue on Saturday, April 2 with 5 additional match-ups. Defending Pacific Conference champions, San Diego Rebellion, will take on the Phoenix Prowlers. The Seattle Majestics will host the Oregon Ravens, and the league's newest team, LA Legends, will host their first matchup against a determined Las Vegas Silverstars squad. In the opening week finale, the powerhouse Utah Falconz franchise (led by 2021 league MVP Gina Magana) will host the Denver Bandits.

Jammed Packed Regular-Season Finale

With playoff berths and seedings potentially on the line, the WNFC will conclude its regular-season schedule in style with 14 teams in action on Saturday, May 21, the final day of the regular season.

Additional Schedule Highlights

  • Philly Phantomz and Kansas City Glory will square off for the first time in the history of the two franchises in week 4, on April 23. Utah Falconz take on the Las Vegas Silver Stars in week 4 as well (matchup of two 2021 Conference Tournament teams)

  • Seattle Majestics will take on the Oregon Ravens in a match of the two top teams in the Pacific North West, in week 6 (May 7).

  • In week 7, the Texas Elite Spartans visit the Alabama Fire. In the 2021 Atlantic Conference tournament, the Fire gave the two-time champions their toughest match-up of the season.

2022 Conference Final Tournaments

The 2022 Conference Finals tournaments (2 post-season tournaments pitting the top 4 teams from each conference against each other over a 4 day period) will return for a third season. The 6 tournament games will determine the final two teams who will compete for the coveted IX CUP Championship trophy. This year the tournaments will be hosted by the San Diego Rebellion (Pacific) and the Florida Avengers (Atlantic). Additional details will be announced at a later date.
