WNFC Week 2 Preview: Key Matchups, Players of the Week and League Standings



After an exhilarating opening weekend, the WNFC is gearing up for Week 2, featuring matchups that promise to be just as intense and competitive as the first. With the league standings beginning to take shape, every game becomes crucial in the quest for dominance in the 2024 season. Opening weekend featured two overtime matches and eight teams are looking to stay undefeated in week 2: Philly Phantomz, Texas Elite Spartans, Atlanta Phoenix, Denver Bandits, Mississippi Panthers, Oregon Ravens, Utah Falconz, San Diego Rebellion.


League Rankings After Week 1
Week 1 WNFC Rankings

The Texas Elite Spartans lead the pack,

showcasing a balanced attack on both sides of the ball in Week 1. However, the league is tightly contested, with the reigning runner up Mississippi Panthers close on their heels. The San Diego Rebellion and Utah Falconz are not far behind, setting the stage for a thrilling encounter in Week 2.


The middle of the pack is densely situated, with teams like the Atlanta Phoenix, Denver Bandits, and Philly Phantonz looking to capitalize on their Week 1 successes. Meanwhile, teams at the lower end, like the Florida Avengers and Tennessee Trojans, are under pressure to turn their fortunes around early in the season to avoid being left behind.


As the WNFC moves into Week 2, the intensity ramps up, with every game carrying significant weight in the standings. Fans are in for another weekend of top-notch football as the teams battle it out, each aiming to make their mark on the 2024 season.

San Diego Rebellion (#3) at Utah Falconz (#4)

A top-tier battle between two high-ranking teams, the Rebellion visiting the Falconz is a marquee matchup. The Rebellion continued their winning ways with a 21-7 victory over the Silver Stars. Despite high expectations around Adrianna Gutierrez's move to the Silver Stars, the Rebellion's all around play and great showing from QB1 Danny Trainor carried them through. Both teams are coming off strong Week 1 victories and will be looking to assert their dominance early in the season.


Denver Bandits (#6) at Texas Elite Spartans (#1)

In a surprising twist, the Bandits pulled off an upset against the Mambas with a 12-6 overtime victory in Colorado. Fresh off the upset, the Bandits face a stern test against the top-ranked Spartans. The Spartans showcased why they are the team to beat, delivering a resounding 48-0 win over the Glory in week 1. Texas Elite aims to continue their dominant form, while Denver looks to prove that their Week 1 win was no fluke.


Florida Avengers (#16) at Kansas City Glory (#13)

Both teams are seeking redemption after tough losses in week 1. The Avengers, in particular, need to bounce back strongly to climb out of the bottom spot in the rankings. Despite Kansas City's loss in week 1 to the defending champs, the new look offense showed some momentum. The Glory are in a must win situation to keep playoff hopes within their control.


Mississippi Panthers (#2) at Houston Mambas (#8)

The Panthers, building on their strong defensive legacy, showcased their prowess by defeating the Prodigy 36-15 in week 1. Mississippi, riding high after a solid win on the road, face the Mambas, who are eager to recover from their upset OT loss to the Denver Bandits. This game is must win for Houston to avoid slipping further down the the competitive Central Division.


Washington Prodigy (#10) at Tennessee Trojans (#15)

The Prodigy and Trojans, both looking for their first wins, face off in a pivotal match. Despite a valiant effort and the impressive performance by QB Ashley Clark, the Prodigy fell last week.The Trojans aim to climb out of the winless column, while the Prodigy seeks to move into the upper half of the rankings.


Oregon Ravens (#9) at Seattle Majestics (#11)

6 pm. PT | CaffeineTV| DAZN Game of The Week

A close matchup in terms of rankings, with both teams looking to build momentum. The Ravens edged out the Legends with a close 9-0 win in week 1, highlighting their defensive strength. They aim to solidify their standing, while the Majestics look to overcome their narrow Week 1 loss. In a thrilling double-overtime battle, the Majestics loss to the Majestics 30-22.


Atlanta Phoenix (#5) at Philly Phantomz (#7)

The Phoenix rose high, dominating the Trojans in week 1 with a 20-0 victory. Atlanta's defense, despite losing several starters to free agency, remained unbreachable, complemented by a strong offensive showing. The Phantomz delivered a commanding performance of their own, shutting out the Avengers 44-0 in week 1. This victory marked a significant turnaround for the Phantomz, who are keen on making some noise this season. The Phoenix and Phantomz, both victorious in Week 1, clash in what promises to be a competitive game. This is a chance for the Phantomz to break into the top five for the first time in league history.


LA Legends (#14) at Las Vegas Silver Stars (#12)

Both teams are seeking their first win to avoid falling too far behind in Pacific Division. The Legends showcased real potential in week , narrowly losing to the Ravens in a tightly contested 9-0 match. The Silver Stars went head to head with the Rebellion in week 1, but could not execute the win. This game is crucial for building confidence and moving up the rankings.
