WNFC Week 1 Recap & Week 2 Preview: Fireworks Early, and More to Come

Updated: Apr 8

Week 1 in the WNFC didn’t just kick off the 2025 season, it exploded out the gate. With jaw-dropping performances, dominant defenses, and several teams announcing themselves as serious contenders, the opening weekend gave fans everything they hoped for and more. Every game is streaming live, and available on demand on Victory+ .

Let’s break it down.

WEEK 1 HIGHLIGHTS

Seattle Majestics 50, Las Vegas Silver Stars 6

Seattle came into 2025 with a point to prove, and proved it they did. The Majestics dropped a league-high 50 points, with Adriana Gutierrez and Kris Grimes leading the scoring charge. Defensive standout Mikaile Fortson added a pick-nine, making Seattle look every bit like title contenders early.

Washington Prodigy 46, Atlanta Truth 17

Though full team stats are pending due to local production issues, the Prodigy’s offense looked borderline unstoppable. Washington leads the league in scoring and will be tested on the road in Week 2, but they're already living up to their “team to watch” status.

Utah Falconz 6, San Diego Rebellion 40

Rebellion running back Regina Escoto Macias racked up 201 rushing yards and 2 touchdowns, taking early control of the league’s rushing leaderboard. San Diego’s physical ground game and front-seven dominance looked championship-ready.

Mississippi Panthers 33, Denver Bandits 0

The reigning IX Cup champs extended their win streak to 10 games, behind a balanced offense led by Jenea Walker and a defense that held Denver to just 25 total yards.

LA Legends 31, Oregon Ravens 2

With Meagan Curtis and Malaysia Quimby forming a dynamic backfield duo, LA’s offensive line imposed its will. The Legends also lead the league in red zone efficiency after Week 1.

Chicago Winds 27, Jersey Shore Wave 22

In a thriller that saw Sarah Teubner toss 3 touchdowns, the Winds spoiled Jersey Shore’s debut despite Karen Mulligan’s 270-yard passing clinic for the Wave—the top passing performance in Week 1. Tennessee Trojans 24, Florida Avengers 0

Kansas City Glory 20, Texas Elite Spartans 14

This one lived up to the hype. Kansas City pulled off a gutsy win in their home opener, handing the Spartans a rare loss. Nashi Catron threw for 88 yards and 2 TDs. Maria Fautali dominated on the ground with 106 yards. Ashura Powell added a highlight-reel 61-yard TD catch. On defense, Syreeta Gapelu and Ronnise Wilson each tallied sacks, while Kassidy Snowden and Racquell Ray came away with interceptions Kansas City’s physical play, control of the tempo, and defensive execution made it clear: the Glory are here to compete
