The Women’s National Football Conference (WNFC) is taking a groundbreaking step in strengthening the health, safety, and long-term performance of women athletes across the league. Today, we are proud to announce the creation of the WNFC Medical Advisory Group, the first advisory body of its kind in women’s professional football.

This initiative will bring together leading medical doctors, sports medicine experts, and research scientists to support the WNFC League Office and Commissioner in shaping evidence-based policies, safety protocols, research priorities, and health standards for the league’s 1,000+ athletes.

As the WNFC continues to set the national standards for women and girls in football, establishing a medical advisory group is a critical next step in building a league anchored in excellence, innovation, and care.

Why This Matters for Women’s Football

For generations, women athletes have trained and competed in systems built largely around research and norms based on male bodies. The WNFC is changing that.

As more girls and women enter the football pipeline, from youth flag programs to varsity, collegiate, and professional tackle, the need for women-centered sports science and medical leadership has never been more important.

The Medical Advisory Group will support the league in:

  • Strengthening player health and safety protocols

  • Advancing women-specific sports science and injury prevention

  • Enhancing return-to-play standards

  • Guiding rule modifications and equipment evaluations

  • Informing research partnerships and data collection across the league

  • Ensuring athletes at all levels receive world-class support

A High-Impact Opportunity for Physicians & Scientists

The WNFC is inviting qualified medical doctors, researchers and scientists to serve as founding members of the Medical Advisory Group.

While the time commitment has been intentionally designed to be light, the impact is enormous. This is a rare chance to shape a professional sports league from the ground up and improve the lives and careers of thousands of women playing America’s fastest-growing sport.

Candidates can apply here, or email your cover letter and resume to admin@wnfcfootball.com.

Building the Future of Women’s Sports

The creation of the WNFC Medical Advisory Group is a declaration that women who play football deserve professional medical standards, research-backed safety protocols, and a league built with their health at the center.

This is another step toward building a league and a movement, that reflects the full potential of women and girls in football.

We’re proud to innovate. And we’re proud to invite the medical community to help shape the future of the WNFC.
