The 2025 WNFC regular season is officially in the books, and what a season it was. From record-setting performances to jaw-dropping highlight reels, the talent across the league reached new heights. Whether you live for the stat sheets or just love the game, this breakdown is for you. We’re diving deep into the top performers on defense, offense, and special teams, and celebrating the history makers along the way.

DEFENSE: A SEASON BUILT ON DOMINANCE
Madeline Violette: The New Tackle Leader
The Chicago Winds linebacker Madeline Violette put on an absolute clinic all season long. With a staggering 83 total tackles (49 solo, 34 assists), she set a new WNFC regular-season record, breaking Kelly Whitehead’s 73-tackle mark from 2023. Violette’s presence was felt everywhere, sideline to sideline, with 5 tackles for loss, 2 interceptions, and a defensive touchdown. Her season wasn’t just productive, it was historic.
Sacks: Mims Can Sleep Good Tonight
Angela Mims’ 2019 sack record (12) remains intact, but a new crop of edge threats made noise in 2025:
Alexis Greer (Ravens) led the league with 5.5 sacks
Alena Kuzmova (Rebellion) was close behind with 4.5
Jazmin Gamble and Tina Orrick (Legends) each added 3, showing the pass rush talent is deep and growing.
INT Machine: Myla Somerville Makes History
In the secondary, Myla Somerville (Washington Prodigy) became the WNFC’s all-time single-season leader in interceptions, hauling in 6 picks and surpassing former leaders Jewelle Grimsley (2019), Kristen London (2021), and Kash Singleton (2022). Add in 85 return yards and 6 pass breakups, and Somerville solidified herself as the league’s top ballhawk.
Turnovers Win Games
Amber O’Connor (Ravens): 4 forced fumbles, 4 recoveries, 1 TD
Kayla Russell (Wave): 4 recoveries, 30 return yards
Kezia Oscar (Prodigy): 3 forced fumbles, 2 recoveries, 65 return yards and a score
OFFENSE: HIGH FLYING AND RECORD-BREAKING
Dajour Miles: New Receiving Yard & TD Champion
No one could stop Dajour Miles (Winds). The dynamic WR posted 456 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns, setting new WNFC records in both categories. She eclipses:
Yardage Record: Mary Woodard (451 yards in 2022)
TD Record: Maria Jackson (8 TDs in 2023)
Miles’ big-play ability (16.3 YPC, long of 79) and red zone dominance made her a weekly nightmare for defenses.
Quarterback Record Watch: Teubner Breaks Bushman's TD Mark
While Rasan Gore’s all-time passing yardage mark (1,282 in 2023) remains untouched, Sarah Teubner (Winds) set her own piece of history by throwing 18 touchdowns in the regular season, breaking the previous WNFC record of 15 passing TDs set by Brittany Bushman in 2021. Teubner’s 1,008 yards and 105.8 passer rating put her in elite company, and her command of the Winds offense was clinical.
Also notable:
Melyse Brown (Panthers): 1,105 yards, 9 TDs, 97.6 rating
Michelle Angel (Elite Spartans): 627 yards, 14 TDs
Smith's Rushing Crown Still Stands
The all-time rushing crown still belongs to Kelli Smith (1,291 yards and 20 TDs in 2021), but this year’s ground game still impressed:
Jazmin Gamble (Legends): 549 yards, 11.2 YPC
Meagan Curtis (Legends): 506 yards, 5 TDs
Kesz Wesley (Rebellion): 482 yards, 8 TDs
Destanie Yarbrough (Elite Spartans) and Jene' Walker (Panthers) each added 6 TDs, anchoring two of the league’s most balanced attacks.
SPECIAL TEAMS: THE HIDDEN PHASE MAKING HEADLINES
Return Game Ignites
Adriana Gutierrez (Majestics): 222 kickoff return yards, 1 TD
Desiree Conner (Truth): 85-yard kickoff TD and 92 punt return yards
Taranisha Taylor (Rebellion): 187 punt return yards, 1 TD
With multiple players scoring on returns and flipping field position weekly, special teams became a true x-factor in 2025.
Wesemann Continues to Lead The Kicking Game
Cara Wesemann (Elite Spartans): 27 PATs (league leader 3rd season in a row)
Jocelyn Charette (Majestics): 4 field goals, long of 31 yards
Isabel Warren (Silver Stars): 591 punting yards on 19 attempts, long of 59
Add in multiple blocked kicks, led by Leeya Zander (Winds) and Brittany O’Connor (Glory) with 2 apiece, and you have one of the most competitive special teams years in WNFC history.
