The DICK’S Sporting Goods Foundation Awards a Sports Matter Grant to 501(c)3 Got Her Back
The DICK’S Sporting Goods Foundation has awarded a Sports Matter Grant to 501(c)3 Got Her Back. The Sports Matter Grant changes lives through the power of sports by breaking down access barriers for youth athletes. By supporting mental and physical health through sports, DICK’S Sporting Goods fosters success in school and paths to bright futures. Grant funds will be used by Got Her Back to create opportunities for girls in football, including skill development camps and tournaments.
Got Her Back is partnered with the Women’s National Football Conference with the worldwide mission of creating an equitable environment for female athletes to play and coach football at the highest level. Communities throughout the largest cities in the United States are strengthened through connections made between WNFC franchises and female student-athletes. By giving athletes opportunities to grow and clear visibility of their futures in football, Got Her Back empowers them to elevate their athletic careers.
The Sports Matter Grant from DICK’S Sporting Goods will greatly impact growth opportunities for girls in football. Got Her Back will be enabled to celebrate, educate and empower more female athletes. We are so excited to partner with DICK’S Sporting Goods on our shared mission to create change through sports. - Sarah Clark: Got Her Back Executive Director
On Friday, June 23, 2023, The DICK’S Sporting Goods Foundation will present the Sports Matter Grant to Got Her Back at The DICK’S Sporting Goods Stonebriar Mall Location in Frisco, Texas. Kicking off the Women’s National Football Conference’s Championship Weekend, the Pep Rally event will celebrate women in football and include appearances by top football talent worldwide, WNFC All-Pros, executives, and sponsors.
As our Got Her Back platform continues to grow, we’re seeing first hand that girls all over the country are playing tackle football! The vast majority of girls play on all-boys teams. Some struggle with acceptance, bullying, or the harsh reality that their tackle football careers will end in high school.
Got Her Back is committed to creating confidence in female football players through visibility, education and mentorship. Our series of camps will allow us to show young women & girls all over the country that there is an army of FootballHERS that stand behind her. - Elizabeth 'Dillow' Jenkins: Got Her Back Co-Founder & WNFC President
