NFL Alumni Lamont Jordan (former RB) and Odessa Jenkins (coaching intern) will Face Off as Head Coaches in Groundbreaking Title Game

For the first time in Women’s National Football Conference (WNFC) history, two NFL alumni will face off as head coaches in the IX Cup Championship Game, which will be broadcast live on ESPN2 at 3 PM ET on Saturday, June 21, 2025, from The Star in Frisco, Texas. In a landmark moment for women’s sports, the Washington Prodigy, led by NFL veteran Lamont Jordan, and the Texas Elite Spartans, guided by trailblazing coach Odessa Jenkins, will meet in what is set to be the most watched women’s tackle football game in history.

The Washington Prodigy: Undefeated and Unstoppable

In just his first season as head coach, Lamont Jordan, former NFL running back, has engineered a dream campaign for the Washington Prodigy. After securing their first undefeated regular season, the Prodigy outlasted the defending IX Cup champion Mississippi Panthers in a dramatic Eastern Conference Championship.

The game was a tale of two halves. The Panthers struck early, leading 10-0 at halftime thanks to a highlight-reel Pick IX by veteran, linebacker Diamond Wright, the only touchdown of the first half. But the second half belonged to Washington. The Prodigy's defense, anchored by veteran LB - Team USA Gold Medalist LaShantel Wilson, locked in and completely shut down the Panthers' offense.

On offense, the dual-quarterback system found its groove. Ashley Clark, who would go on to be named Eastern Conference Tournament MVP, took control after halftime and delivered a perfect strike to rookie phenom #2 Mackenzie Vest, who earned Eastern Conference Offensive MVP honors for the game-tying touchdown. The Prodigy sealed their historic victory with a fourth-down stop on the game’s final drive. Final score 13-10.

Texas Elite Spartans: A Dynasty Reborn

On the other side of the bracket, Odessa Jenkins, the winningest head coach in women’s tackle football history (with a record of (96-5), Women’s Football Hall of Fame Running Back and an NFL coaching alum (Atlanta Falcons, Bill Walsh Diversity Fellowship), led the Texas Elite Spartans to their sixth IX Cup appearance. The Spartans delivered a masterclass in all three phases of the game in a dominant shutout win over the top-ranked San Diego Rebellion defense in the Western Conference Championship.

The Spartans came out firing, racking up 21 unanswered points in the first half behind a thunderous performance by #36 Destanie Yarborough, who took home Western Conference Offensive MVP honors. Quarterback Michelle Angel executed a flawless game plan, while the offensive line opened lanes that made Yarborough nearly untouchable.

Defensively, Texas was ferocious. Led by Western Conference Defensive MVP #5 Whitney Palmer, the Spartans held San Diego scoreless and delivered a defensive exclamation point with a vaunted Pick IX. #0 Deana Guidry, who claimed Western Conference MVP honors, was everywhere, stuffing the run, blanketing receivers, and rallying her team with every snap. Final Score 36-0.
