Run the Play Returns: The WNFC Calls on Women to Put Their Breast Health First

In football, a playbook turns preparation into action. This October, the Women’s National Football Conference is bringing that same approach to breast health with the return of Run the Play.
Throughout Breast Cancer Awareness Month, October 1–31, 2026, the WNFC is calling on athletes, fans, and supporters to make room for their own health, learn what to look for, and help bring the conversation to more women.
The message is simple: Know your body. Run the play. Pass it on.
When the WNFC launched Run the Play in 2024, the campaign reached more than 20,000 women, with 3,000 people sharing its message. This October, we’re calling on our athletes, fans, and supporters to take that impact even further. Put your health first. Read the playbook, make time for breast health awareness, and share the resources with someone you care about. Let’s reach more women, inspire more action, and make prioritizing our health a commitment that lasts beyond October.
Your health belongs in the game plan
Women make time for practices, work, families, and the people who depend on them. Run the Play is a reminder to put their own health on that list, too.

Breast cancer is one of the most common cancers affecting women worldwide. Early detection can save lives, and breast self-examination is often the first step toward recognizing any changes that could be a sign of breast cancer. Our goal is to help women feel comfortable and empowered to know their bodies, recognize early warning signs, and seek medical care when needed.
Learn the play. Take the Pledge. Share it.
Throughout October, follow the WNFC’s social channels for breast-health resources, playbook reminders and information you can save and share. Learn the signs, know your body and make your health a priority.

Then turn that knowledge into action. Visit the Run the Play campaign page and take the pledge to stay aware of changes in your breasts, talk with a healthcare professional about screening, schedule your mammogram if you’re due, or encourage another woman to prioritize her breast health.
Keep the play moving. Send the resources to a teammate, friend, sister, or someone who could use the reminder, and invite them to take the pledge alongside you. A shared post can open a conversation. Your commitment can encourage someone else to act.
Wear the message
The Her Game Run the Play shirts bring the campaign into everyday life. Available in the WNFC shop, the collection gives athletes and supporters another way to show up for breast cancer awareness and start a conversation.
Wear yours, share the campaign, and use #RunThePlay and #WNFC to help carry the message throughout October.
The WNFC’s commitment to women extends beyond the field. Run the Play invites you to make breast health part of the conversation, and part of the game plan long after October ends.
Know your body. Run the play. Pass it on.
The most important play you run might be for your own health.
