WNFC Welcomes One of the World’s Top Linebackers: Leilani Caamal Joins the Golden State Storm

One of the best defenders in the game is taking her talents to The Bay! The Golden State Storm announced today that Leilani Caamal, one of the most decorated and dynamic football players in the world, has officially signed with the team, marking the organization’s first-ever player signing.

Recognized across both tackle and flag football as a generational talent, Caamal brings an elite pedigree that few in the sport can match.

A five-time NAIA Flag Football National Champion with Ottawa University (Kansas); the most dominant program in collegiate women’s flag football. Caamal’s path to the WNFC is a shining example of the new era of football opportunities for women and girls. She also earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology, demonstrating the same discipline and drive in the classroom that she brings to the field.

Before her college success, she was a two-sport standout at Vista Peak High School (Aurora, CO), where she broke barriers as a football player and wrestler.

Reminding many fan of NFL great, Troy Polamalu, Caamal models her game after her idol. The Hall of Fame safety known for his instinct, toughness, and fearlessness. Like Polamalu, Caamal combines elite speed with unmatched football IQ, earning her reputation as one of the most explosive defensive players on any field she steps on.

Off the field, she emphasizes mental and physical recovery, staying grounded with family, her faith, and her love of fresh fruit; and, of course, her favorite NFL team, the San Francisco 49ers.

“Leilani represents everything the WNFC stands for, excellence, power, and possibility,” said WNFC CEO Odessa Jenkins. “She’s living proof that the flag-to-tackle pipeline is real. The next generation of girls can now see that the path from youth flag to college competition to professional tackle football exists, and it leads right here to the WNFC.”

With her signing, the WNFC continues to raise the bar for talent in women’s professional football. Caamal joins a world class linebacker group that already includes Amber Craft (Team USA), Shavonne Verdree (Team USA), Katie Claxton, Darcy Leslie (Team USA), Angie Patton, Deana Guidry, and Lashantel Wilson (Team USA), a collection of the worlds most dominant linebackers.

Caamal’s arrival in the WNFC, and as the first-ever Golden State Storm signee, signals the next phase of the league’s evolution: from a movement to a professional destination for the best women’s football players on earth. Follow Leilani's journey at https://www.goldenstatestorm.com/
