WNFC Week 2 Rankings - Movement, Momentum & Identity

Two weeks into the 2026 WNFC season, movement is already defining the landscape. What held in Week 1 didn’t carry cleanly into Week 2. The WNFC doesn’t wait for teams to settle in. It reveals who they are.
Early separation is happening. Across the WNFC, the teams rising are the ones controlling the game, on the ground, at the line of scrimmage, and in the moments that dictate tempo.
WEEK 2 RANKINGS

BEFORE WE BREAK IT DOWN, HERE'S HOW IT COMES TOGETHER
Every week, WNFC Rankings are built through a collaborative process between league head coaches and the Women’s Football Rankings Committee (WFRC), a panel of independent media experts and football minds. Each week, voters weigh multiple performance indicators:
Overall Team Record (Standings)
Strength of Schedule
Head-to-Head Results
Results Against Common Opponents
Points Allowed (Defensive Performance)
The result is a comprehensive snapshot of who is performing, who is progressing, and who is separating.
MEET THE WFRC PANEL
This year’s WFRC brings together a cross-section of experience across football, media, and innovation:
Alex Schafer - Broadcaster and analyst
Andrea Snead - Champion player and DEI advocate
Ashley Cornwell - First female coach at any Power Five program at the University of Wisconsin
Bo McMichael - Broadcaster and motivator
Craig Chatman - Championship coach and analyst
Oscar Lopez - Founder of Gridiron Beauties
Stephanie Balochko - NFL & Team USA Coach & first WNFC Head of Coaching Development & Resources
Teddy Robertson - Creative director and broadcast innovator
Their collective perspective shapes the most authoritative weekly view of the league.
PATH TO PLAYOFFS
In one of the most significant competitive shifts, owners voted to expand to four divisions in the offseason, reshaping the path to postseason in 2026. Under the new format, each division winner will earn an automatic bid to the playoffs. The remaining four spots will continue to be determined through WFRC ranking, preserving a critical layer of competitive evaluation, while rewarding divisional excellence.
The overall postseason format remains consistent, with the Western and Eastern Conference tournaments in Los Angeles & Washington, D.C., respectively, once again feeding into the IX Cup Championship Game.
WEEK 2 MOVEMENT & MOMENTUM
1. TEXAS ELITE SPARTANS (+0)
Nothing changes at the top. Texas Elite didn’t just defend their position, they reinforced it. A 26-6 win over Washington wasn’t about flash. It was about control. Texas continues to set the tone with a run game behind a dominant offensive line, and the Spartans are dictating games on their terms.
Two games in, they’ve allowed just 12 points. In a league defined by physicality, Texas Elite is the standard.
2. SAN DIEGO REBELLION (+0)
San Diego isn’t chasing anyone, they’re building something just as dangerous. Balanced, efficient, and disciplined, the Rebellion handled Los Angeles with the kind of control that signals sustainability. The Rebellion offense continues to operate without mistakes, distributing across a deep offensive unit.
They don’t rely on one star. And that might be what makes them the most complete team in the West.
3. MISSISSIPPI PANTHERS (+4)
This is the biggest jump in the top tier, and it’s earned. After struggling in Week 1, the Panthers responded with a composed, balanced attack against Chicago and renewed confidence on both sides of the football.
It wasn’t just a win. It was a reminder. Mississippi can beat anyone.
4. UTAH FALCONZ (+6)
No team has been more disruptive to expectations. Utah moves up six spots after a statement win over Kansas City’s high-powered offense. Their triple-option system is forcing opponents out of rhythm, while their defense is controlling the pace.
They’re not just winning. They’re making teams uncomfortable.
5. WASHINGTON PRODIGY (-0)
The ranking holds, but the gap is widening. Washington ran into a Texas Elite team that exposed the physical demands of this league. The Prodigy defense showed flashes early but wore down under sustained pressure.
They remain a top-five team. But now the question is whether they can respond.
6. ATLANTA TRUTH (+2)
Atlanta isn’t just winning, they’re evolving. The dominating performance over Jersey Shore was more than a statement. It was proof that this offense has found its identity. The run-first system is built on long drives and tempo control.
Through two weeks, Atlanta has let the league know that they can manage a powerhouse offensive game with a dominant defense. Keep your eyes on this ATL team.
7. KANSAS CITY GLORY (-4)
This is what volatility looks like in a short season. After exploding for 41 points in Week 1, Kansas City was slowed significantly by Utah. The offense that looked unstoppable suddenly looked contained.
The talent is still there. But consistency is now the concern.
8. CHICAGO WINDS (-4)
Chicago drops after running into a resurgent Mississippi team. Without Rookie of the Year DaJour Miles on the field, the offense hasn’t fully opened up yet.
They’re still dangerous. But until that unit reaches full strength, they’re vulnerable.
LOOKING FOR IDENTITY IN UPCOMING WEEKS
9. LOS ANGELES LEGENDS (-3)
Los Angeles is searching for stability. The structure is there, but execution needs to follow.
10. FLORIDA AVENGERS (+1)
Florida makes a quiet but important move. A 21–0 shutout of Tennessee showcased a defense that is fast, disciplined, and physical.
11. JERSEY SHORE WAVE (-2)
Jersey Shore ran into an Atlanta team that controlled every phase of the game. The Wave now sits in a crowded middle tier where margins are thin, and their response will define their season.
12. OREGON RAVENS (+0)
No movement, but meaningful progress. Oregon’s win over Seattle was about control in key moments. They’re not overwhelming opponents, but they’re executing when it matters.
13. GOLDEN STATE STORM (+3)
This is what a bounce-back looks like. After a shutout loss in Week 1, Golden State responded with a 31-2 win over Las Vegas. Direction matters. And the Storm now has it.
14. LAS VEGAS SILVER STARS (-1)
Las Vegas continues to search for consistency. There are flashes, but not enough sustained execution on either side of the ball.
15. SEATTLE MAJESTICS (+0)
Seattle remains winless, but competitive. The loss to Oregon showed moments of promise, but also the same issue: the inability to sustain drives.
16. TENNESSEE TROJANS (-2)
Tennessee falls to the bottom after being shut out by Florida. Over the past two weeks, offensive production has been the biggest challenge. In a league where possessions are limited, that’s difficult to overcome.
WHAT THE MOVEMENT TELLS US
Through two weeks, the trends are undeniable:
The run game is driving success
Defense is dictating tempo
Balance is separating contenders from the pack
The teams rising, Mississippi, Utah, Atlanta, and Golden State, are the ones adjusting fastest.
The teams falling are still searching for identity. With only four games remaining after this slate, Week 3 isn’t just another week. It’s a pivot point. Contenders will solidify. Pretenders will fade. And in a league this tight, there’s no time to wait.
