On Wednesday, the WNFC announced that Las Cruces, with their vibrant culture, local Government support, and fan base of thousands will be the gate keeper and home to the Nationally Televised 2020 IX Cup Championship Weekend. The event (Sponsored by adidas and Riddell Sports) is billed as weekend full of empowering girls and women through tackle football, and will be hosted at the beautiful LCPS Field of Dreams. The 2020 IX Cup Weekend has a theme of “It’s Our Time”. WNFC CEO Odessa Jenkins had this to say about the decision:
"I could not think of a cooler place to host our championship weekend. This year we have a clearly stated goal of making history and selling out a women’s tackle football championship. In talking to our sponsors and watching what the US National Team did in soccer this year, I think that we have a very attainable goal. The players, teams, fans and supporters of the WNFC deserve the atmosphere that will be created in Las Cruces. It’s the right place, with the right fan base, at the right time!”
The inaugural IX Cup Champion was held in Denver, Co, and set the stage for the league in its sophomore season to create an unparalleled experience for fans who love football, and women’s sports. Follow news on the IX Cup Weekend events at https://www.ixcupchampionship.com/.
