The Golden State Storm are proud to announce the hiring of Dallas Hartwell as the franchise’s first Head Coach. A seasoned football mind with championship experience, international coaching success, and a deep commitment to player development, Hartwell arrives ready to lead the Storm into a new era of excellence in women’s professional football.

With over a decade of coaching experience across the U.S. and Canada, Hartwell has earned a reputation for building strong programs and shaping positive team cultures.

He currently serves as the Varsity Head Coach at The Branson School in Ross, California, and has previously coached at Marin Catholic High School, Terra Linda High School, and Strathcona High School.

A Nebraska native, Hartwell earned a degree in Political Science from the University of Nebraska. Early in his coaching career, he worked with the United Football League’s Omaha Nighthawks before taking over the varsity program at Strathcona High School in Edmonton, Alberta. There, he led the team to three straight playoff appearances and back-to-back city championships, including an undefeated season in 2017. Several of his players continued on to play at the collegiate level, including in NCAA Division I programs.

Hartwell’s leadership is grounded in discipline and service. A U.S. Army veteran who served in Afghanistan, he brings the focus, composure, and resilience of military leadership to the sideline. That same dedication extends into the classroom, where he has spent years as a history educator.

“I’m incredibly honored to be named the first Head Coach of the Golden State Storm,” said Hartwell. “This is a special opportunity to build something from the ground up. We’re going to compete with integrity, develop our athletes, and represent the Bay Area with pride.”

Coach Hartwell has called the Bay Area home since 2017, where he lives with his wife Becca and their two daughters, Alice and Amelia.

As the Golden State Storm prepare for their inaugural season in the Women’s National Football Conference (WNFC), Hartwell’s experience, steady leadership, and clear vision will be instrumental in shaping a franchise built for long-term success.
