The Iso Journal: Daziah Green

With the cancellation of the WNFC 2020 season, our players have had to adjust not only to missing an entire season of football, but also to practicing safe distancing due to a global pandemic. We want to hear about it.


Inspired by The Players’ Tribune, The WNFC is excited to introduce a new blog series, "The Iso Journal", where we catch up with our superstars to find out how they've spent their time in isolation, what they are doing to prepare for the 2021 pre-season, and how they are remaining #WNFCproud off the field.


When I found out the 2020 WNFC season was canceled, I was a little upset not being able to have the season we worked so hard for, but honestly I wasn’t surprised. I was prepared for it with everything going on. I thought it was a great decision by the leaders in the WNFC to put everyone’s safety first during the pandemic.

I am self-employed and work from home. I design logos and make graphics. I’ve actually had more business than normal during this time. A lot of people are looking to get their business off the ground. I have been a huge part of that process by helping them bring their vision to life.

I currently live with my family here in Texas. It has been a big adjustment helping with my little cousin, since my family is also working from home. During the pandemic we have spent a lot of time together.

Having a routine is essential for me to stay mentally balanced. I make sure I spend the first couple hours of the day doing things for my mental health before I get on any social media or websites. I don’t watch the news. Anything in the outside world can determine how you allow your day to go, so it’s important for me to take that time for my mental.


I’m working on being intentional with my time. When I first wake up, I pray, show gratitude by naming several things I am thankful for, read a Bible plan, journal, and meditate or do yoga.


I also listen to motivational speeches and sermons on YouTube in the morning or throughout the day. I listen to Eric Thomas “Secrets to Success” Podcast. I watch live church sermons, including Transformation Church with Pastor Michael Todd and Elevation Church with Pastor Steven Furtick.


I’ve had plenty of time to work on my hobbies. I love drawing, painting, and anything that has to do with art. Working on my art takes my mind off the things going on around me. Also, my goal is to read 25 books by the end of the year. I’m currently on my 10th book.

I workout in my garage. My cousin has a small gym area set up with equipment. I have pretty much everything I need to work every muscle, so I just get creative. I workout about five times a week and also connect through Zoom for team workouts.



My nutrition plan hasn’t altered. If anything, it has gotten better. I have cooked a lot more during this pandemic and I’m trying new recipes. As a plant-based athlete, it’s important that my body gets its necessary nutrients.

My team and coaches have been really supportive during this time. We check in daily and stay in contact. My coaches have gone above and beyond to make sure we all stay connected and know we have their support. If I ever need anything, I won’t hesitate to ask.

I have also been keeping up with the social media pages for the Texas Elite Spartans and the WNFC to stay involved. The WNFC continues to support its players and highlight women’s football.

If you thought the first year of the WNFC was amazing, just imagine what the league will do next with two off-seasons. The athletes are so ready to get back on the field, bringing women’s tackle football like it has never been seen before.

Take care of your mental health. It is more important than ever. The best thing we can do for ourselves is to share our feelings. It’s not healthy to keep it all in. If we talk through our emotions, we can build conversation, bridge gaps, and all come together to feel like we’re not alone.


Practice self-care, mindfulness, and daily gratitude. Adopt healthy habits, work on your passions, read a book, exercise every week, and get out in nature. Cut out toxic people and negative energy. Your health is more important than anything right now.

Take it one day at a time. Control what you can.
